Your Guide To Gorpcore

Gorpcore. Heard of it before? If you haven’t heard of it, you’ve seen it.

Named in 2017, it’s a trend that’s taking over.

Understated. Reliable. Hardwearing. Built for the outdoors.

Made for all weathers, but standing out in the cooler seasons, here’s your intro to Gorpcore and key looks for your wardrobe.

It’s been around for ages but never given an official name.

First coined by The Cut blog, it fuses normcore (casual clothes not influenced by trends) and the hiking snack gorp (‘good ol’ raisins and peanuts’, or ‘granola, oatmeal, raisins and peanuts’).

Still wondering what that means? It means outerwear worn as streetwear. Function as fashion. Technical as trendy.

Taking fits from the peaks to the streets, these are the names you need in your Gorpcore collection.

Whether it’s a brand rooted in outdoor DNA or a technical line from a casual name, Gorpcore isn’t slowing down.

The kingpins Arc’teryx and The North Face feature alongside Berghaus, Columbia, Napapijri, Merrell and Salomon.

Throw in Nike ACG and adidas Terrex. Some line-up that.

Napapijri Arper Winter Jacket

Tough. Woven. Exclusive. Napapijri’s signature design details stick around with this cold weather edition of the Arper Jacket. A big, branded chest flap pocket, a pullover fit and a zip fastening to the side.

Nike ACG Storm-FIT ‘Skull Peak’ Jacket

The elements? They haven’t got a chance with this one from Nike ACG. An icon in Gorpcore, this jacket is engineered with Storm-FIT tech and PrimaLoft fill – that’s all conditions covered. Deep pockets, adjustable trims and a boxy shape complete the coat.

The North Face Dome Padded Jacket

No good Gorpcore collection isn’t complete without The North Face. And at the heart of The North Face’s heat is puffer coats. This JD-exclusive padded jacket’s adding an extra dose of outdoor DNA with a forest-inspired print all over.

Nike ACG UV Hiking Trousers

Big treks 🤝 Nike ACG. Streets to summits, these UV-blocking hiking pants have extra stretch and a water-repellent finish. We’re talking sun to rain in style. Patches at the knees add durability and a quick-release buckle on the built-in belt makes them easy to step in and out of.
