Aston Villa, JD’s Official Retail Partner, have dropped a new kit with adidas in celebration of their 150th Anniversary.
As a nod to the club’s successes over the years, this is one Villains won’t want to miss out on.
Back To The Start⏪
To continue the club’s season-long celebration of their anniversary, adidas and Villa are now launching a special edition kit to show the true pride of the Claret and Blues.
Rewinding the clock, it all began on 21st November 1874, when the Birmingham based giants were first founded.
Villa soon became dominant in the Midlands and claimed their first trophy in the Birmingham Senior Cup in 1880.
In the 1888/89 season, club director William McGregor founded the football league, with Villa finishing runners up to Preston North End in their debut season.
Since then, the boys in Claret and Blue have gone on to claim 22 trophies, including seven league titles, seven FA Cups, one European Cup and a European Super Cup.
Honouring History🏆
As one of the oldest and most successful clubs in English football, Villa are using the 2024/25 season as a celebration of their achievements both past and present.
The new kit features a crew neckline and short sleeves for a classic look, with the signature 3-Stripes to the shoulders.
In a Black colourway, it represents the original colour that was modelled on the first kits worn by the club before they switched to the famous Claret and Blue strip.
It uses adidas’ revolutionary AEROREADY sweat-wicking technology to keep you dry as your put in the work and comes in a Black colourway throughout
The special edition shirt is signed off with an embroidered Performance logo and an old-style Aston Villa FC crest to the chest.
In 1978, Villa were the first team in the UK to add a crest to their shirt. The Scottish lion rampant was sourced by William McGregor himself.
This crest has been redrawn and used on the 150th Anniversary Shirt using the earliest sources the club have of it.
Aston Villa plans to celebrate its anniversary on Friday, 10th January, in a clash against West Ham United in the third round of the FA Cup, where the new strip will be worn by the players for the first time.
