First touching down in 1976, the Converse Pro Leather is nothin’ but iconic. It was originally created as a basketball sneaker, but over time it has evolved to become the ultimate street staple.
Converse has always brought the heat with refreshed icons, new colourways, collabs and more givin’ us our much-needed Converse fix. Check it out.
Throwin’ it back to ’76 where we saw the Pro Leather donned by the likes of b-ball heroes, it featured new tech with a cupsole design that brought lightweight comfort and durable wear – something no one had done yet!
The silhouette also switched up the Converse style and boldly broke down the rules of sports footwear with the fresh Star Chevron logo that dropped in “team colours” and at one point, markers were included in the Converse trainer box to encourage fans to get creative and personalise their creps.
American b-ball player Julius Erving aka “Dr. J” elevated the sneaker to become a staple in a basketball player’s locker, on and off the court. With his high-leaping and slam dunk style bringin’ a display of power into artistic expression, he moved the Converse Pro Leather to a new trainer league.
Donning the Pro Leather in the ‘70s and ‘80s, Dr. J completely changed the game of basketball, soaring above the rim like no one had done before and inspiring a new generation of players in their creative approach to the sport.
Staying true to the OG with clean colourways and a retro appeal, the new Converse Pro Leather is a go-to whatever you’re wearing. Shop them right here!
