Just last night, celeb royalty took to the red carpet in NY for the Met Gala 2018; once again turning heads with an array show-stopping looks that have been racking up the likes on the ‘gram overnight.
Being THE main event on the fashion fundraising calendar, of course all the talk was on the theme and what people hit the red carpet wearing! This year’s theme was ‘Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination’ where celebs took their Met style next level, combining fashion and religion to create an extravagant look – think angel wings, chainmail crosses and oh so many jewels.
With so many looks hittin’ the red carpet, it’s hard to choose a fave. Here’s some of the unmissable looks we’re crushin’ on here at JD Women…
Rihanna
One of the most out there ‘fits of the evening had to be from our gal Rhi-Rhi. Takin’ inspo from the Pope (who knew he’d be the next fashion icon?!), the Met Gala co-host lived up to expectation, wearing an embellished Maison Margiela cape, mini dress and papal crown.
Katy Perry
Defo grabbing everyone’s attention was Katy Perry – showing true commitment to the theme (maybe a little literally?!). If anyone can pull of some 6ft feathered angel wings, it’s this pop Prin! Pairing the wings with a gold, chainmail Versace dress and thigh high boots, nobody could miss her on the red carpet.
Ariana Grande
For Ariana’s debut at the Met Gala she looked gorg, making the best first impressions in custom Vera Wang. Perfectly suited to the theme, the gown brought all the Sistine Chapel vibes, elegantly printed with Michelangelo’s iconic ‘The Last Judgement’.
Kim Kardashian
Queen of the red carpet, Kimmy K once again killed it – flying solo in a custom chainmail Versace dress. Although some would say it’s a little low key for Kim, the glittering gold dress hugged her curves in all the right places.
While we’re going a lil crazy over this year’s Met Gala looks – heavy angel wings, tight corsets and rigid embellishments have left us reachin’ for the comf’! Let’s leave the red carpet to the pros. Until next year…
