This Saturday, the heavyweight division will be lit up again in a rematch between two giants of the sport.
After an explosive first fight back in August 2020 at Matchroom HQ, Dillian Whyte and Alexander Povetkin go toe-to-toe once more for the WBC ‘Interim’ Heavyweight Title.
Whyte, nicknamed The Body Snatcher, will look to seek revenge after a shock one-punch knockout defeat in round five of their previous contest, which saw him out for the count. Having previously dropped Povetkin to the canvas twice in what was a dominant display from the Brit.
With a strong record of wins over top 10 names such Joseph Parker, Oscar Rivas and twice over Derek Chisora, Whyte will want to see the loss as a blip on his journey to become world champion. With the winner heavily tipped to fight the winner of the AJ V Fury.
Whyte (27-0-2), despite the previous result, is still tipped as the favourite for the second fight, with his Russian counterpart Povetkin (34-1-2) the more experienced fighter.
However, at the age of 41, will the White Lion be able to handle the power and accuracy of Dillian, much like he struggled with in the first 4 rounds of their previous contest? Or will Whyte’s new-found hunger prove too strong for the former Olympic champion.
The bout, hosted in Gibraltar, has been labelled ‘The Rumble On The Rock’, with the main event expected to get underway at 10pm. Don’t miss it this Saturday, 27.03.21 – tune in Live on SKY SPORTS.
