Boxing returns to the big screens this week as Kid Galahad defends his IBF World Featherweight title against the durable Kiko Martinez.
Fighting in front of his home fans at the Utilita Arena in Sheffield, Galahad will want to make a statement that he belongs at world level with an emphatic victory.
His reign of his IBF title gets underway this Saturday after an impressive win over James Dickens at fight camp last Summer.
An Easy Night?
Galahad boasts a near-perfect record of 28 wins to just 1 defeat, with that single loss coming in a close defeat to Josh Warrington 18 month ago.
Known for being one Britain’s most technically gifted fighters, Galahad still has 17 knockout victories to his name, proving he’s got the power to back up his show-stopping skills. Not only that, he has a marginal height and reach advantage over Martinez, allowing him to keep the fight at distance if needs be.
Many feel that this fight is an easy voluntary defence against an aging Martinez, but the highly skilled Galahad won’t be looking past him.
However, Martinez is no pushover. With 54 professional fights and multiple world title challenges under his belt, the Spaniard has been and done it all before, and will lean on his vast experience to thoroughly test Galahad.
Can Martinez cause a major upset, or will it be a routine evening for Kid Galahad?
The Undercard
