You might not know a lot about the Nike Field General, but you’re about to find out why it should be on your radar.
Understated and minimalistic, Nike is making its play in the low-profile game with the reintroduction of its iconic Field General.

Iconic Since ‘82
When Nike’s Field General first stepped onto the scene, leg warmers were peak fashion, hair perms were a must-have, and we listened to music on a boombox. Wild.
Basically, it was the ‘80s, and Nike was making massive waves with its signature Air technology and streetwear apparel. The Field General launched in 1982, originally rooted in American football as a shoe designed for quarterbacks.
Since then, the Field General has had only one re-release. Until now.

Refreshed and Renewed
Over 40 years on from the OG launch, Nike is re-introducing the silhouette for a new era and a new generation.
The Field General has been gaining traction little by little over the past few months, popping up on the radars of sneakerheads and celebs. The design is much the same as the original, pairing crisp synthetic leather panels over tough textiles for a hardwearing, textured look.
A lace closure locks you in, and a gum rubber sole delivers that vintage feel while a nubby Waffle tread creates that signature gridiron-inspired aesthetic. It’s actually the first shoe to feature the Nike Waffle sole, adding another layer of Swoosh lore to these legendary sneaks.
Unbox Your New Faves
Despite Nike’s reputation for tech-rich, chunky trainers, this February’s launch of the Field General sees the Swoosh make a move for the low-pro look, and we’re very much here for it.
A fresh collection of women’s colourways have landed, with four new hues hitting the shelves. Whether you’re keeping things classic in bright Summit White or a staple Black pair, or picking out a pop of colour with Elemental Pink or University Red, you can add a new pair (or all four ) to your rotation!
Not stopping there, you can kit out the whole family with men’s and kids’ sizing available too.
What To Wear With The Nike Field General
You can ditch the shoulder pads this time around, with the Field General making a bigger statement on the streets than the football field.
We think they pair pretty well with straight-cut jeans or cargos and a classic tee, or an old-school tracksuit for that throwback vibe.
Pull on a set of crisp white socks to complete the look and you’re good to go.
