adidas: Look Of Football

Football and fashion. The worlds have collided for decades.

Whether it’s major brand and club collabs or icons of the game showcasing their style, football style always ramps up ahead of a big tournament. This year’s no different.

Where the stadium meets the streets, adidas is celebrating this. The latest Look of Football collection is inspired by the pitch, just in time for a huge summer of football.

Big patterns. Big prints.

Ready for a terrace refresh? Based off classic kits, world cup fever’s in full swing with these looks.

Taking cues from retro football shirts of the ‘80s, ‘90s and ‘00s, they come in crewnecks, V-necks and collared silhouettes.

For Him

Chevrons to waves, these statement shirts steal the show. But to pair with them jorts are back for another big summer. Tough denim and distressed details give them that worn-in look from the get-go.

Need another layer for a late kick-off? adidas has you covered in staple track tops and full zip jackets.

For Her

Tonal stripes to bolder combos, these 3-Stripes football shirts all feature sponsor-like adidas branding to the front, with the Trefoil logo like a club badge above.

And for the peak of summer, crochet fabric brings cool comfort and holiday vibes.

On the bottom half, we’re calling on a range of shorts and skirts for warmer weather. Balloon and tennis skirts to fleece and denim shorts, these picks pair perfectly with your footy top.

Your country. Your colours.

We’ll be real, your nation might not always have the freshest kit. But it doesn’t have to be your country you rep out and about (we won’t tell). These adidas designs are going to be all over your feed this season.

For Him

Let’s start with the champs. The holders, Argentina. You think of the blue and white stripes, you think Messi. Throw in that the triple stack of gold badges on the chest, it’s a winner through and through.

Germany and adidas’ partnership is going out with a bang. The home kit blends their two previous World Cup winning shirts into one design (1990 and 2014). While the away strip intros a base colour never used before.

Two more away kits. Two completely different designs. For Spain, the off white base features an intricate pattern inspired by the nation’s literature. For Belgium, turn heads in an ultra-vibrant blue and pink pattern taken from the country’s surrealist movement.

For Her

This summer’s world cup collection is stacked with women’s sizes, but adidas Originals has put a women’s-only spin on national team kits from the archives.

Inspired by the ’94 Germany home kit, this cropped vest has a scoop front neckline, a high back and a smooth and stretchy fabric.

Argentina and Spain editions pay tribute to that same year with off-the-shoulder, asymmetric tank tops. The Spanish is a fitted design, while the Argentinian version has a strappy back and adjustable tie.

Talk of the terraces

We’re not skipping the best bit. Trainers are adidas’ bread and butter. And summer’s all about keeping it fresh in low-top classics like the Handball Spezial.

With roots back to indoor sports, the T-toe shape and gum rubber outsole soon made them a terrace icon. They’ve been repped ever since.

We’re calling it, the Samba Jane is the shoe of the season. A combo of the ballet-like Mary Jane silhouette and the classic adidas Samba, these simple slip-ons take it to a whole new level.
