The Virus Game

The latest drop from Jordan is inspired by the notorious rivalry between the Chicago Bulls and the New York Knicks. Throughout the ‘90s when each team competed in the playoffs, Jordan took huge pleasure in dominating the Knicks. One of their most iconic games actually took place in ’88 a.k.a. ‘The Virus Game’.

Before the game, MJ had contracted a stomach virus. Not letting it slow him down, Jordan went on to play, scoring 47 points for his team – leading to another victory over the Knicks.

Air Jordan 3 Retro – The Design

In a fresh white colourway, the AJ3 is built with a premium, tumbled leather upper. Paying homage to the Knicks, they rep hits of Old Royal and University Orange to the tongue, collar, eyelets and midsole. Keeping with the bold aesthetic, these trainers are equipped with Jordan’s signature elephant print, which sits across overlays to the heel and forefoot.

Underfoot, they’re sat on a lightweight foam midsole, which comes with Nike’s legendary Air-sole cushioning for comfort you can see as well as feel.

To finish up, these Jordans sport the legendary Jumpman logo to the tongue and heel, but one of the most interesting details sits hidden on the inside…Sitting behind the tongue, they feature ‘04.08.88’, the date of the iconic ‘Virus Game’.
