Just Dropped: Nike’s Epic React

The day has finally arrived, after months of anticipation Nike have finally dropped their revolutionary new runner – the Epic React!

No strangers to changing the sneak game, Nike have been pushing boundaries and the limits of technology for decades. With the release of the LunarEpic Low Flyknit in 2017, which utilised Nike’s Lunarlon foam technology, it seemed that there was no way that cushioning and performance could go any further. However, less than a year later, the Epic React is born.

Nike’s aim when developing the Epic React was to create something that would satisfy the needs and wants of every runner; long or short distance, novice and veteran – everyone! Through questioning thousands of runners, the most sought-after features were superior cushioning, improved energy return, longevity of use and lightweight design – all within the one silhouette. A nearly impossible challenge, but that didn’t stop Nike from accepting and succeeding, with the result being React cushioning.

The softest and most responsive cushioning ever, React cushioning is 11% softer and 13% bouncier than Lunarlon foam. Painstakingly crafted, the tech materialised after testing 400 material and design combinations, which amassed to over 2,000 hours of wear time in the process.

More than just the midsole cushioning, the Epic React excels in all areas. The Flyknit upper provides structural support to the foot as well as a snug yet non-restrictive fit. The material’s high durability has the endurance need for thousands of running hours while still maintaining a high degree of breathability. Additionally, the outsole was designed after analysing how much force runners exert in every direction, to provide the most support possible to movements.

A ground-breaking achievement, the Epic React truly brings running to a whole new level. A testament to Nike’s continued ingenuity and creativity, check out the men’s and women’s and kids‘ colourways here at JD.
