For 2024, New Balance’s iconic ‘Grey Day’ celebration is taking over the whole month of May.
A significant moment in the New Balance calendar, ‘Grey Day’ is an annual event to celebrate the brand’s signature colour.
Why the Colour Grey?
New Balance’s love for the colour Grey dates back to the late ‘70s and early ‘80s when the Boston-based brand launched a range of Grey running shoes.
They were seen as a solution to a problem where all-White runners were too easily ruined, either from bad weather or dirty streets.
Since then, New Balance have embraced their fondness for the colour and see it as their staple hue to this day. It is considered an emblem of creativity and innovation.
As a result, Grey Day was born in 2018, with the brand dropping some of their most iconic silhouettes in fresh Grey colourways every year since.
Here’s what’s hitting the shelves this year…
New Balance 9060
Rooted in retro, the 9060 brings those classic Y2K feels to the present.
The inspiration for the aesthetic is pulled straight from running shoes of the era, with expanded sway bars throughout the upper creating a sense of motion.
Mesh fabric keeps things cool and breathable, while suede overlays not only bring a premium feel to the upper, but a durable and long-lasting wear.
Underfoot, an ABZORB midsole delivers cushioning for a smooth step, while ABZORB SBS in the heel keeps you stable and supported at all times.
Landing in a men’s Rain Cloud and Castlerock colourway, and Shadow Grey for women, don’t miss out on these must-cop kicks.
New Balance 2002R
The 2002R has become a staple in New Balance’s sneaker line-up after originally dropping in the 2010s.
Drawing on inspiration from running treads of the early ‘00s, its old-school aesthetic combined with breathable fabrics and smooth suede has cemented it as one of the brand’s best and most-wanted silhouettes.
ABZORB in the midsole and ABZORB SBS in the heel keep the ride ultra-smooth, while N-ergy tech on the outsole delivers traction in the streets.
Landing in a clean Slate Grey and Concrete colourway, grab your pair here.
New Balance 327
Throwing it all the way back to the ‘70s, these legendary lace-ups bring classic track style to the streets.
The look of the 327 is pulled straight from the era and is symbolic of the ‘70s as a time of innovation in the running space. The shapely, angular upper is made from breathable textile with smooth suede overlays.
A wedge-shaped EVA foam midsole delivers comfy cushioning underfoot, while a lugged, wrap-around outsole brings ultra-firm traction to your step.
Finished with asymmetric and oversized ‘N’ branding to the sidewalls, they land in a JD-exclusive two-tone Grey colourway.
