Trending RN: New Balance 550

Since first dropping in 1989, New Balance’s 550 silhouette has become an icon on the streets.

Taking cues from the courts with a design geared towards ‘the everyday NBA guy’, the 550 is a clean-cut must-cop, and it’s making waves once again.

From The Vault 📦

The basketball sneaker was designed back in the ‘80s by the legendary Steven Smith, the ‘Godfather of dad shoes’.

But times were different and styles weren’t the same, and a low-top basketball trainer just didn’t quite cut it. The 550 faded back into New Balance’s archives after a short-lived hype when it was released.

And it wasn’t until they were re-released in collaboration with Aimé Leon Dore a solid 30 years later, when the sneaks finally got the love they deserve.

The 550 took the sneaker scene by storm, bringing a fresh energy to New Balance and gaining big traction.

As Seen On… ⭐

And the buzz around the 550 is only getting bigger.

Recently, stars like Taylor Swift and Jack Harlow have been spotted lacing up in the b-ball kicks. As T Swift enters her sports era and Jack Harlow hits the courts in the all-new White Men Can’t Jump, the 550 is back. But if you ask us, it never really went away…

With its perforated leather upper, chunky silhouette and signature hoops elements, the sneaker is the perfect sleek sneaker to add to your collection.

As the hype continues, make sure you’ve got a pair in rotation. Shop the New Balance 550 right here.
