With the launch of the New Balance 997H just last week – we joined New Balance and a handful of ambassadors for a campaign shoot.
First up, Todd Duncan (@filmbytodd); a London-based photographer with stacks of creativity. On shoot, we managed to steal 5 mins with Todd to get all the deets on his photography career! Check it out.
How did you get into photography?
3 years ago, I found a camera in a charity shop and I started to take it with me to shows. Getting into photography from that.
What has been the biggest high of your career so far?
Finding out that my work is being shown in schools in Japan as an example of photography.
What makes you different and independent?
I feel like I don’t try and change everyone’s personality when I’m taking pictures. I like to capture people for who they really are and make sure the picture really picks up the person’s emotion and personal style. I also like to make every image a scene out of a movie, so it’s not just the person in the picture – the background has a huge role to play.
What advice would you give to others?
“Do what makes you happy” and always trust yourself when it comes to creativity. Push boundaries and don’t give up because your break could be right around the corner.
Also, don’t be afraid to try something even if you don’t know much about it. You will find that you end up finding your unique style by learning yourself.
How have the people around you helped you get to where you are today?
The people around me always tell me to keep striving for success and they give me the confidence to go forward with new ideas. To have people around you in the creative industry is really helpful because it can help you be motivated when seeing them succeed.
There you have it, just how Todd ticks…
