Fresh from the first drop in Summer, Converse just added a whole load of new styles to their Renew collection and we are in LOVE (again).
Over the last 100 years, Converse has constantly reworked and refreshed the iconic All Star, with new colourways, collabs and more givin’ us our much-needed Converse fix.
When they launched Renew, they introduced a whole new era of Converse design. Though the collection looks and feels just like the OG styles, each upper is actually built from used plastic bottles. Yaaas.
What’s Renew?
Didn’t catch Renew the first time around? Don’t worry, we’ll fill you in.
Starting as an answer to the question “what can’t you make Converse out of?”, Converse decided to go down the sustainable route – purely because it’s the right thing to do! There’s a huge focus RN on how we can all live more efficiently and go green, and Renew is their ongoing commitment to create sneakers in more innovative and sustainable ways.
Rethinking unwanted waste, Converse are taking plastic and transforming it into a fabric that looks and feels just like the original All Star. Without compromising on the look or feel, they’ve managed to craft the iconic canvas upper out of 100% recycled polyester. This comes from used plastic bottles and there’s roughly 6 bottles in each pair! Not only this, the laces are also made from recycled materials too. ♻️♻️
