adidas Originals: Timeless in the Trefoil

The Summer Olympics of 1972 headed to Munich, and just as millions of eyes were about to be captivated by the best athletes in the world, adidas dropped the brand-new Trefoil logo.

Turning heads the moment it was embroidered to adidas’ performance apparel, the iconic symbol was then shifted from all 3-Stripes products to just lifestyle and streetwear, focusing on the brand’s heritage.

With a distinctive retro feel woven into the Trefoil, every trainer or piece of clothing it has touched instantly delivers that old school style.

Over 50 years since the first range arrived, the latest adidas Originals collection for Spring/Summer stays true to the DNA.

Featuring fresh JD-exclusives, here’s what’s new right here.

Originals Worn By…

Known for his flair on the pitch with Liverpool and England, Trent Alexander-Arnold (@trentarnold66) is stepping out in the 3-Stripes off it.

Whether it’s terrace-inspired design with the reissued edition of the Handball Spezial, or the resurgence of utility-based streetwear with straight-leg cargo pants, he knows how to get creative. Signing off the ‘fit, he’s added a graphic Trefoil tee up top.

From the runway to the racetrack, model and athlete Ocean Lewis (@oceanlewis) knows the vibe when street meets sport.

Bringin’ retro vibes to the socials on the daily, varsity vibes return in her oversized crewneck sweatshirt, while the roomy shorts have a curved hem for a flattering fit on recovery days. Finishing up her look, she’s paired another iconic silhouette with Trefoil socks – this time it’s the ‘70s legend, Handball Spezial.

Lighting up arenas across Europe, singer/songwriter Ronisia (@ronisia_mds) and rapper Zamdane (@zamdane) get it done in the 3-Stripes.

For Roni, a vintage crewneck tee and oversized track pants make the perfect pair for the studio or the sofa.

When she’s stepping up for dress rehearsals or exploring the streets of Paris, Gazelle Indoor trainers add a streamlined finish to the laidback look.

While for Zam, it doesn’t get more classic than an SST bomber jacket to pull on for the stage. Matching it up with tonal cargo pants for street-led style, the ‘fit is only complete when he laces up in a crisp white colourway of the Gazelle.
