Back through the archives and right through to today, it’s time to celebrate 40 years of Nike’s iconic Air Force 1.
Introducing An Icon 👟
Originally designed as a basketball sneaker, the Air Force 1 silhouette was the first to bring Nike’s innovative Air cushioning onto the court.
When it first dropped back in 1982, it wasn’t long before some of the NBA’s best players, AKA the ‘Original Six’, were lacing up in the sneaker.
But at its core, not much has changed in 40 years. Like they say, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! The Air Force 1 is clean and classic, known and loved across the globe. It’s super versatile, and delivers supreme comfort without compromising on cool.
In honour of the anniversary, Nike has dropped a special-edition iteration of the sneaker in both men’s and women’s sizes, with sleek and subtle details to celebrate 40 years.
With premium tumbled leather uppers and supportive stitched overlays, the 40th anniversary design adds bold elements like metallic gold hardware and a debossed ‘40’ at the heel.
Celebrate The Swoosh ✅
From high-profile collabs with the likes of Off White, Louis Vuitton and Supreme, to maintaining signature DNA, the Air Force 1 has made big waves in the sneaker community.
To honour its roots in hoops, hip-hop culture and creativity, we’re celebrating the legacy with Sturdy Off; a London-based dance collective known for their TikTok and YouTube content. In case ya don’t already know, Sturdy Off’s channel shows a group of dancers vibing and gettin’ sturdy to some hard-hitting drill beats.
