A Look Back at the OGs
The story of the Tailwind started way back in ’78. If you think that the Air Max 1 was the first Nike sneak to introduce Air-sole cushioning, think again….
The OG Tailwind debuted Nike’s Air technology, pretty much laying out the groundwork for Nike’s most iconic trainers in the decades that followed, and still bigger than ever today. The OG runner took off during marathon season in Hawaii – quickly becoming a coveted silhouette.
The Tailwind made waves, leading Nike to extend its lineage throughout the ‘90s. By ’99, Nike were ready to drop the 4th chapter – showcasing its boldest look to date. Taking a big leap away from its predecessors, the AM Tailwind IV was the first Tailwind to come equipped with Nike’s visible Air cushioning in both the heel AND forefoot, taking cues from Sergio Lozano’s Air Max 95.

Keepin’ the same design lines as the OG and showcasing strong ‘90s styling, they’re built with a durable textile upper with premium leather overlays for added support. These iconic sneaks have a secure lace up fastening, padded ankle collar and a lightweight foam midsole underfoot for maximum cushioning.
Still riding high on Air, they’re equipped with Nike’s signature Air cushioning in the heel and forefoot, which takes comfort up a level. Finished with Max Air branding to the heel and tongue, as well as the legendary Swoosh logo throughout.
