It was heavyweight boxing’s biggest upset, since Buster Douglas dethroned Mike Tyson 29 years earlier, as the unified champion Anthony Joshua relinquished his belts to a late replacement Andy Ruiz last June.
The relatively unknown American-Mexican fighter – with just one loss on his record to Joseph Parker – sent shock waves through the heavyweight division, by recovering from an early knockdown to earn a seventh round stoppage at the MSG in New York.
