The NFL is Back – What You Need to Know

It’s the highlight of the American sporting calendar – The Super Bowl – but the run-in for it begins right here as a new NFL season finally kicks off!

Want the low down ahead of the new season? We’ve got you covered. Right here we’re talking all things NFL, as well as letting you in on how you can pre order the latest Nike NFL gear, stay locked in!

A Brief Look Back…

The Kansas City Chiefs ran out as the 2020 Super Bowl winners against the 49ers, after they racked up 21 points with no reply in a dominant Fourth Quarter surge (31-20 FT score).

No team has won back-to-back Super Bowls since The Patriots in 2004 and 2005. The New England team are currently on a run of winning a final every other year (2015, 2017 and 2019 champions) so the law of averages would dictate they should lift the trophy next February.

Luckily sport isn’t usually that predictable, so here’s everything to look forward to over the next few months and what you need to know about copping the new jerseys of your fave teams.

Where Can I Watch the NFL?

In the UK, Sky Sports has exclusive LIVE NFL broadcasting rights (except the Super Bowl, which is shown on terrestrial TV). The first round games that will be broadcast live on Sky Sports are highlighted with an * on the list above.

Players to Watch Out For

It’s an exciting time for the NFL right now as a new generation of Quarter Backs continue to make their mark on the game. Probably the most notable players are; Patrick Mahones of the Chiefs and Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens. Elsewhere, the total dominance of the Patriots and Tom Brady looks set to end after the QB left the team in March to join the Bucaneers.

When it comes to hitting tackles, keep an eye on Tyron Smith of the Dallas Cowboys and Todd Gurley of the Rams.

Who are the Favourites?

The NFL due to its divisional divide and play-off format at the end of each season means it often throws up more surprises than something like the Premier League but it’s a fairly safe bet that the Kansas City Chiefs will be strong once again.

General talk suggests that the Dallas Cowboys might also FINALLY end their quarter century Super Bowl drought thanks to the talent of QB Dak Prescott.
