Callin’ all Vans fans! Today, 18th November, is the third annual Vans Checkerboard day. Bringing the Vans Family together to rebuild and revitalise communities across the world, the brand is partnering up with DoSomething.org, encouraging everyone to participate in local activations.
Helping build vibrant and inclusive public spaces through arts, sports, culture and more, this year is no different, with over 16 global charities receiving a share of over $1 million!
Who it Supports?
Since the inception back in 2019, the Vans Checkerboard Day has helped raise more than $2 million for non-profit charities around the world, supporting creativity, mental awareness and community engagement.
The cause has rallied the extended Vans fam to join and focus on why creativity matters and how we should support charities focused on uplifting creativity.
This year’s recipients are: GoodPush, Groundswell, Sustainable Coastlines Hawaii, Colectivo Tomate, Nations Skate Youth, Dignity for Children, Another Way of Seeing, Art Dream, Skateboard Academy, Hackney Bumps, Juju Surf Club, Indigo Youth Movement, Girls in Film, Jukebox Collective and The Hub.
In addition to this, DoSomething.org will receive $250,000 USD as they continue to back the younger generation to engage in their communities, with 10% off this directly benefiting youth scholarships!

How You Can Get Involved!
Leading up to the day, Vans fans can participate in a variety of initiatives that include:
1. Community events in your local city and a variety of digital activations. Check them out by heading over to Vans.com/checkerboardday.
2. The #VansCheckerboardDay TikTok Challenge will share inspiring community projects, ways to rep your checkerboard pattern and tips for joining in on the celebration.
3. On top of the $1 million of support by Vans, you can support 15 regional charities by helping raise additional donations. This can be done through the Vans Family app by donating loyalty points in support for a monetary donation. 100% of proceeds will be donated to The Vans Checkerboard Fund at Tides Foundation.
